When I first started my embroidery journey I had no idea where to start with applique but it has fast become my favourite thing to do. The applique tractor sweatshirts and fire engine sweatshirts in my shop are by far my best selling items. The fabric makes the design pop out and what child doesn't love a tractor or fire engine.
It has taken me a long time to get the hang of making them. From cutting through the sweatshirt to forgetting when to place the fabric, I have made many mistakes. Many people pre cut the fabric but I find it easier to cut it in the hoop. The applique scissors are a must though!! Because they are angled up they stop you making holes in the clothing.
I just wish I had been making them when my daughter was young. She would have loved a princess design.
